The story behind «Fournos»

In 1970 a young couple bought a rocky piece of land just outside the village Kremmydi. A year later, embedded in the rock, appeared a small building that operated as the village bakery. The difficulties of that time did not allow the bakery to operate for a long time, but the name “Fournos” (greek word for bakery) remained in use by the locals as a reference of location.

The building expanded into a fully functional set of apartments and its use changed but in the memories of its owners there is always the starting point: a small village bakery that made warm bread in a small building on the hard rock…
